12 year old donates pet oxygen masks to first responders

Sometimes, dogs, cats and other pets need life-saving attention from emergency first responders. With this in mind, 12-year-old Emily Rilling was inspired by her love of animals to lead a charity drive that provided pet oxygen masks to first responders in her area.

Last year, Emily learned that 90 percent of local first responder teams did not have animal-sized masks. So, she set up a charity with a goal of providing a kit to every fire department in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.

Sure enough, she succeeded -- and was able to give these special rescue kits to seven fire departments. Her charity drive was so successful that people from other parts of Pennsylvania -- and even New Jersey -- have been asking for kits.
