Listen to Aaliyah Radio on iHeartRadio

Producers of the upcoming Aaliyah biopic have found their Timbaland and Missy Elliott in two relatively unknown actors.

Lifetime Television execs tell, Izaak Smith and Chattrisse Dolabaille will play the hitmaking producer and rapper who were instrumental in shaping Aaliyah's sound as part of their "Super Friends" network.  They join Alexandra Shipp who will play the late R&B singer in Aaliyah: Princess of R&B. Shipman took over the role after Disney Channel star Zendaya Coleman dropped out of the project.

Aaliyah's family has voiced its opposition to the TV movie, saying the singer's life story should be headed to the big screen.  Now some fans are speaking out about the casting of Dolabaille as Elliott. According to The Urban Daily, they're concerned that the Canadian actress looks nothing like the hitmaking rapper.

Aaliyah: Princess Of R&B is on track to premiere on Lifetime in the fall.  Aaliyah died in a plane crash in 2001 at the age of 22.
